Verification of identity (VOI)

PLEASE NOTE: ZipID will be withdrawing it's services from 31 May 2023 and will not be accepting new requests to set up access to the ZipID service, effective immediately.

We require an applicant’s identity to be verified, whether the applicant is an individual and/or entity, prior to assessing their application.

We prefer identification to be completed face to face and via Document Verification Service (DVS). If this is not possible, it can be completed via an approved Identity Agent.

DVS is available via ApplyOnline and compares your customers ID data against Australian Government records.

If this option doesn't suit your needs, we have others available to complete the VOI requirements including utilising video technology or having an authorised third party conduct the VOI on your behalf.

Face to Face

Where you are meeting with your applicant you may submit copies of original documents. Identification we require can be found on ApplyOnline.

ApplyOnline will automatically complete the VOI declaration on the Consents and Declarations form from the information provided. Please ensure you complete loading the application prior to printing the form.

Face to Face - Verification via DVS

Document Verification Service (DVS) is an automated and integrated identification verification service. It is available in ApplyOnline.

ApplyOnline automatically confirms the identification has been successfully verified. There is no requirement to upload copies of the identification used to Supporting Document Checklist.

DVS is free for both yourself and the applicant. It is an easy way to ensure that all identification and certification requirements are met.

DVS compares the applicant ID data against Australian Government records. This includes the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Driver's licence
  • Medicare card
  • Citizenship
  • Marriage certificates

Note: Applicant identification used must match the applicant's full name. If there are differences between the name with the forms of identification used, additional supporting documentation may be required.

The requirement to provide a change of name form and birth/marriage certificates remain the same.

A Government issued ID Verification Report is generated upon submission and automatically send to the Bank.

You'll then need to complete the VOI declaration on the Consents and Declarations form. Tick face to face with broker as the identification method and submit copies of identification as supporting documentation. The requirement to provide a change of name form and birth/marriage certificates remain the same.

Verification via approved Identity Agent

Using an approved Identity Agent is free for both yourself and the applicant. It is an easy way to ensure that all identification and certification requirements are met.

ApplyOnline will automatically complete the VOI declaration on the Consents and Declaration form from the information provided. Please ensure you complete loading all application details prior to printing any forms and provide the approved Identity Agent Verification of Identification report as Supporting Documentation.

VOI via video technology

VOI via video technology such as Skype or Facetime, may be used if other options are not available.

First you must get the applicant to send a copy of their identification documents to the broker conducting the VOI. Identification we require can be found on ApplyOnline.

The applicant must display the original ID via video and you must be satisfied the copies match the originals.

ApplyOnline will automatically complete the VOI declaration on the Consents and Declaration form from the information provided. Please ensure you complete loading all application details prior to printing the form.

Certified Identification Form

If you are unable to meet your applicant face to face or via video conference, and unable to use an approved Identity Agent, you will need to arrange a Certified Identification (CID) form. You will then be able to conduct a verification of identification (VOI).

This form is only to be completed by a Justice of the Peace or a Police Officer. They will need to sign, date and certify each identification document with the wording "This is a true copy of an original document provided". Any applicable Qualification number should be provided.

ApplyOnline will automatically complete the VOI declaration on the Consents and Declaration form from the information provided. Please ensure you include your reason as to why a CID was required to be used. The completed CID form and certified documents must be provided as supporting documentation.
